Xbox 360 – Gears of War – Best Game Ever

Best game ever? Not quite… I think the Halo dynasty still takes the cake for that award, however Gears of War does have the best graphics I’ve ever seen in a video game.

It’s got some nice gameplay features, but they’re hard to get used to. The duck and cover and the blind firing options are cool, but it really makes me miss the freedom that you’re given in Halo 2… and I’m assuming Halo 3. 😉

The one thing that was really disappointing was the length of the game. Don’t get me wrong, I like video games, but I’m not the kind of guy who is going to sit down and not drop the control until I finish the entire game. I like to take my time, play for an hour here and there. That’s what I did with this game, and after about a week of playing… I’m done. Do stellar graphics take away from the overall content? Maybe.

My Rating: 8
Gameplay: 9
Graphics: 9
Controls: 7

Rent or Buy?
This is definitely a game that you should keep on your shelf.

iTunes – Processing Album Artwork

Okay, so I had a bunch of fun on my home PC when I had to deal with iTunes and the brilliant feature “Determining Gapless Playback”. Today, I installed iTunes 7.0.2 on my office PC and I found a new one: “Processing Album Artwork” which seems to slow the computer down even more and take even longer than “Determining Gapless Playback”. I think iTunes is out to do one thing… crash my computer.

What the “Processing Album Artwork” feature does is looks on Apple’s servers for the album cover for each and every file that you have that doesn’t already have an embedded album cover. Obviously, this could take a very long time depending on the number of files you have. You have the option to perform this manually by right-clicking on any song and selecting “Get Album Artwork”. I prefer to use Tag & Rename – http://www.softpointer.com/

iTunes – Determining Gapless Playback Information

What exactly is Gapless Playback? Here’s what Apple has to say about it:

Gapless playback means that there is no pause in playback between the end of one audio file and the beginning of the next audio file. This allows for playback of content with no gaps the way it was meant to be heard. Some examples of gapless albums include:

  • “Dark Side of the Moon” by Pink Floyd
  • “Abbey Road” by The Beatles
  • Many live and classical albums

Gapless Playback in iTunes
Gapless playback is always on in iTunes 7 or later unless the Crossfade feature is turned on. If Crossfade is on, only audio files that have the “Part of a gapless album” option checked and are capable of being played gaplessly will play with no gaps.

So apparently the new version of iTunes wants to behave more like a CD or a record… you know… how the songs just blend so beautifully together. For all of those albums that have songs that flow into one another with no real fade-in or fade-out iTunes has come up with their version of a “solution”. Good idea in theory? Maybe. But what about those of us who have hundreds or thousands of MP3’s? I for instance, have a computer that hosts all of my media files – music, pictures, videos, etc. so when iTunes decides that it wants to read through my entire music catalog it causes havoc on my computer and my local network.

Erectile Dysfunction – Viagra, Cialis, Levitra – Treating ED

Erectile Dysfunction: Cialis, Viagra and Levitra to Treat ED

There are only three oral drugs approved by the FDA to treat erectile dysfunction: Cialis, Levitra, and Viagra. All work by increasing the flow of blood into the penis so that when a man is sexually stimulated, he can get an erection.

What Are the Differences Between Cialis, Levitra, and Viagra?

Cialis, Levitra, and Viagra work by a similar mechanism to cause erections. There are subtle differences in how long the drug works and how quickly it works. Levitra works a little longer than Viagra. They both take effect in about 30 minutes. With Levitra, the effects last for about 5 hours. With Viagra, the effects last approximately 4 hours.Google 300×250

Cialis works a bit faster (within about 15 minutes), and the effects last much longer — up to 36 hours in some cases.

If One of These Drugs Isn’t Effective for Erectile Dysfunction, Can I Try Another?

Because these drugs work the same way, it’s unlikely that you’ll have success with one if you’ve failed to achieve an adequate erection with another.

What Precautions Should I Take Before Taking One of These Drugs?

There are certain situations in which these drugs may not be safe to take. Before taking them, tell your doctor:

  • If you are allergic to Viagra or any other drugs.
  • About any prescription or nonprescription medications you are currently taking, including herbal and dietary supplements.
  • If you are scheduled for surgery, including dental surgery.
  • If you take nitroglycerin or a long-acting nitrate to treat chest pain. The combination of Cialis, Levitra or Viagra with these drugs can cause dangerously low blood pressure.
  • If you take alpha-blockers for blood pressure or prostate problems. The combination of Cialis or Levitra with these drugs can also cause dangerously low blood pressure.

In addition, always follow the directions on your prescription label carefully and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part that you do not understand. Take these drugs exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. Do not take these drugs more than once a day.

Who Should Not Take Cialis, Levitra or Viagra?

If you have suffered from a heart attack, stroke or life threatening arrhythmia (irregular heart rate) within the last 6 months you should discuss other options with your doctor. It is also advised to avoid these drugs if you have uncontrolled high or low blood pressure or if you experience chest pain with sex.

What Are the Side Effects of Cialis, Levitra and Viagra?

Side effects are not common but they can occur. Side effects can include:

  • Headache
  • Upset stomach
  • Flushing (feeling warm)
  • Nasal congestion
  • Changes in vision
  • Back pain (with Cialis)

Call your doctor if you experience severe forms of these symptoms or if they do not go away after 4-8 hours.

Warning

Call your doctor or seek emergency treatment immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:

  • Rash
  • Painful erection
  • Prolonged erection (longer than 4 hours)
  • Fainting
  • Chest pain
  • Itching or burning during urination

Stop taking these medications and call a doctor or health care provider right away if you experience sudden or decreased vision loss in one or both eyes. A rare vision problem called NAION has been reported by a few men using these drugs. NAION (nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy) causes a sudden loss of eyesight because blood flow is blocked to the optic nerve. People who have a higher chance for NAION include those who:

  • Are over 50 years old
  • Smoke
  • Have heart disease
  • Have diabetes
  • Have high blood pressure
  • Have high cholesterol
  • Have certain eye problems

How Should These Drugs Be Stored?

These drugs should be kept in its original container and out of reach of children. Store them away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Discard any medication that has expired or is no longer needed.

Heroes – Chapter 7 – “Nothing to Hide”

This episode starts out with Peter the nurse reading the paper to Simone’s father, when he gets distracted and decides to leap out of the window. This is the first time we actually see him fly. Next thing you know, Peter is asleep in his apartment where he is awaken by Simone to the news that her father has just passed away.

Claire’s buddy returns the tape of her trying to cause bodily harm to herself after they thought that it had been lost. Being an irresponsible female, Claire leaves the tape where her little brother finds it. He in turn watches it and is amazed – Claire trys to play it off as “special effects”. Her little brother is not convinced so you staples her ass. He only got one staple off… had he been using a red swingline, he could have easily popped her with at least 4 or 5. Claire removes the staple and her blood miraculously jumps back into her skin. Pretty nifty.

Matt, the mind reading cop, sits down to have a conversation with his wife. He wants to tell her that he can read minds, but is distracted while listening to her thoughts. His skanky wife had been cheating on him. In his next scene, he and Aubrey the FBI agent are examining a charred body that is emitting large amounts of radiation. One too many visits to the tanning salon if you ask me. With the body, there is a single piece of evidence… the fingerprint of Theodore Sprague – seared to the bone. Matt and Aubrey next visit radioactive-man and his wife in the hospital where they learn that when radioactive-man’s temper flares, he starts to generate tons of heat and radiation. Matt is able to relay some of Ted’s comatose wifes thoughts to calm him down and get him to agree to join them at the police station. Back at the station, Matt tells his partner that he’s retaking the detective exam, his partner congratulates him while thinking the exact opposite, “F’ing loser… I’m boinking your wife!”. Since Matt is special, he is able to hear this and he in turn catches his partner with a devastating right haymaker. Watch out Iron Mike.

Hiro, Ando D.L. and Micah have a coincidental run in on a desolate road outside of Las Vegas where there has been a car crash and a woman is trapped in the car. D.L. goes to help the woman out, where he reaches through the window to unlock the door. By through, I mean through the closed glass. I could have used that power at the soda machine yesterday when I was 10 cents short. The car proceeds to explode and Hiro stops time and pulls both D.L. and the woman from the wreckage before they get incinerated. Toward the end of the episode, Micah tries to use an out of order payphone outside of their hotel… Micah makes it work by touching it. Can you hear me now? Finally a hero that can have a real world application – Verizon… call this kid up!!!
Nathan Petrelli and his family have breakfast with a reporter who is trying to get some dirt on the family. The reporter tries to get a rise out of Peters wheelchair wife by reminding her that Nathan was the driver in the accident where she lost the use of her legs. She already knew this. Peter shows up unexpectedly and Nathan asks him to leave, Peter thinks that breakfast looks to tasty and decides to stay. The reporter next questions Nathan about the hot blonde (Niki) that he was seen with in his recent trip to Vegas. Knowing damn well that he was slutting around, Nathan is stuck. Peter jumps in and saves the day by “admitting” that Nathan was in Las Vegas to interview a psychologist to help Peter cope with his recent suicide attempt. After breakfast, Nathan’s wife asks him if Peter was telling the truth about Vegas, and Nathan blatantly lies to her cause he knows damn well that he’s going to head back to Vegas to get another piece of that ass. Hells yeah.
