SEO – Design Your Site to Benefit Your Search Results and Rankings

Dynamic URLs

Dynamic URLs are URL strings that are created by passing parameters in the querystring. Please see my article Optimize Search Results by Displaying Friendly URLs for an in-depth review on why Dynamic URLs impact search results negatively.

Extensive Javascript and JS Navigation

Search engines like the simplicity of basic HTML code and all of the standard HTML elements.

When search engines get to a <script> block inside a page, they ignore it. Plain and simple. Many sites use Javascript for navigation because of the effects that can be achieved. Just remember that search engines will not follow your Javascript navigation, not because they don’t want to, but because they can’t see it. If you insist on using Javascript for navigation, I suggest that you also create a secondary navigation that uses traditional <a href> tags so that search engines will be able to visit all pages in your site.
