nVidia Windows Vista Driver Update – Will it Solve nvlddmkm Driver Issue?
March 21st, 2007 | Posted by in Random Stuff | Tech/Web
Check out my previous article on the nVidia / Windows Vista nvlddmkm driver problems: Display Driver Stopped Responding and Has Recovered – nvlddmkm nVidia Driver
I have been looking everywhere for a solution to the nvlddmkm driver issue with Windows Vista and nVidia GeForce video cards. Every site I have come across fails to provide any concrete answers, but I just noticed that nVidia has a new version of the driver available on their site (newer than the version I have installed). The most recent version of the ForceWare drivers can be downloaded from nVidia here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_100.65.html I recently installed these drivers and as of right now, everything seems to be working fine… knock on wood. I’ll update this post with the success (or failure of these drivers) but as of right now, everything appears to be stable.
These are the Windows Vista 32-bit drivers. Specs as follows:
ForceWare Release 100
Version: 100.65
Release Date: February 20, 2007
WHQL Driver
Be sure to follow the nVidia suggested installation tips:
- “Download Accelerator” utilities should be disabled when downloading any drivers.
- Do not run virus protection software in the background while installing the drivers. This prevents the driver from configuring itself properly.
- Before installing new drivers make sure you uninstall all NVIDIA display drivers from the Windows Control Panel. Browse to the Start Menu > Windows Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and search for “NVIDIA Windows Display Drivers” or “NVIDIA Display Drivers” and select remove.
Additional Nvidia nvlddmkm.sys driver information can be found here.

Yes that will help and improve to avord errors from Vista gameing on nvidia gameing video or a 3D/2D viewing card from that Aaron. but there is also a way to lower or higher your system memory timming or finding a way to change them to make them remotely connected it relay feed back for the chip to run free into the data packet into the system rams that why changeing timming clock speed from each setting to make it function better from each timming or clocking from the memory to video card memory back to video memory to vista back to memory to CPU it nuts, But for most laptop there Bios really never let u take place to take contorl of your memory speed or able to lower memory timming mode or higher it or change them to get a better smothie pasteing from to memory system rams to BIOS to Vista windows to video card hardware memory system to able to runs it game or other applications or stuff to function the way it sould, Have to remember that Vista does share video memory with it system memory rams into the video card memory that what i’m mad at DX10 and vista so bad even which is kinda scrwed ups, In XP they let the Nvidia drivers to contorl XP for its display setting and able to contorl the video card setting and ways for it to run thes video card on a set alone video memory from the video card not your system rams but some data to talk with the system memory rams from the computer to the Video card to able to run thoes DX games fliters i can see why DDR2 is out for sure thes days to Vista hide that one out for M$ for a gameing or 3D or play around computer. but now it used from vista which is kinda lame and dumb. video card thes days can add 1 GB or 2 GB of video memory if Vista let nvidia to contorl the vista display setting on vista able to contorl both ways,,,now if the lappy or Laptop have shared system memory rams to take with shared video memory it taken from the system memory rams back into video in that ram that three ways relays going into that memory it get hot and waste speed.so vista and laptop is in a sad issiues right now even for Desktop there some newer video card that able to support that three ways talking memory relay going back and forth on the newer lappy to vista and Desktop. some old or new full nvidia laptop can able to play around with the mode but it be on Vista windows mode or XP window mode and u gota have the newer nvidia video card driver from there website to able to take contorl of the Program plus the program called Ntune it can also contorl your nvidia video card mhz speed setting back from that stock speed for video card and not a OC= overclocking home made video card from other co. but to bad it doesn’t let u reset or save your video card Bios speed or computer BIOS to able to program the BIOS to save the setting for a better setting stage for your computer system memory to run at that mode,,, it also danger the Bios and your Vista and the computer memory timming but if u move to much timming or trun it way to high or OverClock your computer with that ntune way to much if your not to careful could cause more BSOD or lose data stuff from your Hard drive that storage computer information. or even hurt your laptop Hardware chips that run the computer But it a risky risk to take http://www.nvidia.com/object/ntune_5.05.54.00.html but they work well for pushing nvidia stock speed thes ntune doesn’t go wel on a non-nvidia motherboard or a lappy or laptop. if it VIA and few other brands motherboard with Nvidia video card could cause burnt up hardware=mean inside of the computer parts and chips that contorls it stuff on the lappy could brun up or break your laptop because if your not to sure if it a complete nvidia chipset lappy or laptop motherboard that contorls it nvidia video cards.but most of the time it frezzed vista nothing happend gota go to safe mode and delete the software.
but there are also other software that able to change it video card speeds but i haven’t found a system memory rams one for all kinds of computer Bios. wel i worte a reviews ways to re installed vista in a better ways if u want u can read and find out alittle infomation about redoing vista with there drivers and others as wel to get your video card going. http://i.nconspicuo.us/2007/03/28/nvidia-nvlddmkm-vista-driver-fix-here-is-the-solution/#comment-97290
Panther
don’t trash it yet.lol
just try to follow
just don’t payattion about the memory rams or BIOS just reinstall your Vista that came with your Dell computer do u have the Vista disc that came with your dell? if so then u need to back up your stuff Burn all your stuff important stuff on a CD or DVD
then put your dell Vista disc or disk in the DVD rom from the one that have windows Vista from dell DVD disc and then reset or restart your lappy or laptop just push a key where it said ..it would say something like boot to CD or DVD rom push F8 or F2 or any other key that that reload Vista windows posted on the screen on the Dell flash screen on your laptop then when u loaded up Dell vista DVD dics
then don’t do a recovery it doesn’t whipe out the bad old stuff in your computer. click on Install Vista there sould be a Option button of the bottom screen to after Vista loaded up click on that button option then it sould say Format .. it will format your Hard drive it will delete it clean and nothing will be there even old stuff will be gone this will delete and clean your computer everything that was on your computer and it will be gone then Vista will ask to Install Vista Home or mabe u got something better,,then after u installed Vista when that Vista windows loaded up put in your time zone and all that stuff and add Home as for your Network places and all that stuff will install Vista it will take alittle while gota be paysent have to wait u know when it the Vista loaded up wait till the Little flashing green or blue light that look like a cylinder looking indicator Hard drive light on your laptop wait till that little light stop talking and if it bearly blink like a time stopwatch timer going by from every sec hand flash the green light or blue light beep or flashing at u real slow at or it stop at it own or stop makeing noise or it stop talking or something or stop from being busy from that light then go to START button the big blue button that said start click on it and then click on Contorl panel and then click on Windows Update then click on check for update at the top left of the conner of a window of the update then it will install the update when the frist update done then check for update again slowly and careful and take your time installing update one at a time. just unclick everything that was checkmarked in every Boxs for every update uncheck all of them then the one that need to install frist is Intel SATA Hard drive update or Intel chipset driver for SATA just install that one driver don’t download anything eles just that one download for your intel SATA Hard drive or intel chipset driver then it will download then it will install that driver for your lappy or laptop when it completed downloading it will installing that driver SATA intel or chipset intel SATA it will be in yellow icon saying need to restart make sure your hard drive light quit running the green light make sure it completely done talking or being busy and if it going to fast then wait till it clam down or slow down bearly blinking at u if it stop then when it done then push the button that said restart it will ask to restart the computer or laptop then it will restart and go back to the Vista
then go back to the Windows update program from contorl panel then click on Windows Update after u it load up completey all the way no light blinking at u then click on the check for update button at the top left of the screen of that window update. let it search for new update then uncheck all the boxes that have every update in it everyone of them. ok now at the very top of the windows update scroll up and click on the frist update Box add a checkmark in that Box make sure everything eles is uncheckmark in the Windows Update beside that one at the very top now in the box at the frist update at the very top and download this update then when it done if it ask to restart then wait till your laptop the green light slow down hard drive light quit blinking at u
click on then restart your lappy, if the yellow icon doesn’t show Restart then u have to restarted yourself click on the Big blue start button then do the same thing over again remember don’t install anyother Hardware update till u download each one of thoes important recommendation one by time and everytime u installed one don’t download everyone of them at the sametime it will cause something to screw up so take your time downloading each one after one installed and done restart the computer when it ask to if it doesn’t ask if it just said completed then make sure your hard drive green light is not so busy if it slown down and resting off then that when u hit the restart button and keep doing the same thing over one by one remember don’t installl the Hardware update or Video card or Dreamsecen just all the all the big important recommendation update is done by each one by one don’t forget to restart computer when one is completely done and that hard drive green light quit blinking at u even starting your vista up keep and eye on that hard drive light completing it jobs and keep doing that same process over and over till the update important recommendation is completely done every one by one i hope u take your time doing this update when doing one by one.
If u do it all at one time it just screw vista up i don’t know undstand why vista letting u guys download everything at onetime it just mess it up if u do download everything at once. so take your time
when u completed the all the update for Vista.
then start on Hardware one by one don’t do it all at onetime just one by one and do the same process over and over till the video driver is last on Hardware update from windows update then don’t do the last video driver update after all that work. after u restart the computer when it ask to come back to windows update make sure there nothing there on the update , don’t do the video card yet!
don’t download Dreamscene yet!
frist u gota go to now go to http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_175.19_whql.html
and download that video driver and install that
after u install that video driver it will ask to restart the Laptop
then go to this webpage
http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/AboutGFW/Pages/DirectX10.aspx
go to this website it update the video setting for Vista from DirectX10 it is under Gamer click on it and update your DX10 i know u don’t game but it just part of the 3D stuff for vista video cards to able to display Dreamscene or small webpage 3D arts or or things that are very active on the vista it fixies all the stuff for the video card stuff ok.
after this installed restart lappy it might ask to restart if it doesn’t if it said complete then click ok then restart your lappy
then u need to download Vista codec
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/vista_codec_package.htm
and when u complete that update vista codec then restart computer when it is completed
there u go no more problems with that displaying “Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered”
then u can install your anit-vrius software and all that stuff u do on it
Panther, I have got DELL inspiron 1520 too and have no problems at all. My config: CPU 7500, 4GB RAM, GPU 8600M GT, Vista SP1 32bit, Driver 174.31.
I play The Witcher, Bioshock, Anno1701, Civ4 without issues as mentioned.
Same problem. I have not discovered any fix; will definitely be going with an ATI card next time around. This is ridiculous.
Dude, listen to M1900, I did what he said and everything works now, I don’t think my laptop could handle the slick windows and stuff so now it works just fine.
I have an HP laptop (Vista Home Edition 32bit) with an Nvidia 8600M GS video card. I’ve had the laptop for almost a year now with now problem.
Then last night I resubbed to City of Heroes, and got this crash a few times, then it crashed and I got the error message that everyone has. Now it happens multiple times while my comp is turning on, I’m not even doing anything.
I don’t understand why it would work fine for a year, and then suddenly not, I haven’t installed any new updates or anything since the last time I played either. Have any solutions surfaced yet?
hey guys i just discovered a way to make this work on my IBM lenovo N200 with a Geforce GO 7300
i installed riva tuner, i messed with the frequencies of the core and memmory and stayed below my default ones, after that rive tuner showed me an option – RESET SETTINGS TO DEFAULT FOR THIS DRIVER !!! i hti that and i no longer the this fffin error! hope this works for you good luck
Well, it seems my problems with this error foretold of something a lot worse than the rest of you. My laptop completely died. Something inside is fried, either the graphics card or the memory. Luckily it happened on the last day of my warranty, so I’m sending it in to be fixed, and extending my warranty, I really lucked out.
Umm i got windows vista basic edition, and when i play games like Age of mithology or War craft, all the sudden the screen goes black, and i have to wait like 5-10sec till it comes again, and if i keep playing it just crashes and says the display driver igfx has stopped working and recovered or something, help me its aannoyyyinggg!!
computer specs:
Windows Vista Home Basic
E machines
Well i guess i’m part of the club now.
I’m using an ASUS m50sv laptop with vista home premium SP1, nvidia 9500M GS, and a 2gig of ram. I bought this laptop last aug.20,2008 and the 1st time that i experienced the nvlddmkm was when i played COH, i only experienced it once with COH then i tried to install COD4, everytime i play COD4,the nvlddmkm always appear every 15-20 mins.
Anyone out there has a solution to this damn problem?
GOT IT!
Had months of COD4 crashes like the guy above says, went to the nvidia site and used the auto driver detect tool. Because I am using a laptop it directed me to the compal download site http://www.compal.com/asp/driver_dnd/
Followed the menu to find my laptop. Selected 030 rather than Intel (youll know what I mean when you get there) and download the latest Compal VGA driver (Compal 176[1].15 Driver Drop Vista32.zip)
this is the path I took:
IFL90_91/Drivers/030/Vista32_64/02.VGA/nVIDIA NB8M_8P
installed it and I haven’t had the problem since.
Not sure if there is a similar site for anyone using different laptops but worth a try.
I’ve been having this same problem for quite a while now and there doesn’t appear to be a solution. I can say that it has nothing to do with having 3GB of RAM as some people have suggested. My system only has 1.5 GB RAM. I have an nVidia GeForceFX 5700 Ultra with 128MB RAM. Whenever I check the nVidia site for an updated driver it just says I already have the latest driver, which is an October 2006 version. So, it doesn’t look like they ever plan on fixing this issue for my card setup.
Steve- Is any of your RAM overclocked? I thought that might have been the problem, either a BIOS issue or a heat buildup.
Glad to see I’m not the only one having this problem. My computer (1GB RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8ghz, nVidia GeForce 7500) was working fine until suddenly I just started up a game, played it for 2-3 mins then the screen kind of went mad and red lines and dots appeared everywhere. My monitor then went to sleep for some unknown reason and i had to restart my computer. I thought this was because my drive was out of date so I updated my driver and still my game still crashed.
I saw on a post above that you had to uninstall your previous driver and THEN install the latest driver so I think I will try that.
WTF is going on here i have a top of the line computer and top of the line microsoft software all a super custom built badboy,But its a pyle of shit?
Fix this error nvidia this is bull crap dont release your crap till its tested properly on ALL compatible sytems.
Its dam near been a year and they havent fixed this bs i bought a badboy pc so it dont work?Whats the point of gameing if you cant game?
Also whats the point of vista if it has hangs (random app hangs for a few seconds) dx10 ? a joke? Somone needs to crack a whip on these lazy rich companys to get thisngs strait. This is the only error i get with my gfx/Gameing setup. i think that one guy was right i might also just get a fcking ps3 or a wii.Ill sell my rigg and buy me a bad azz laptop that will surf the net only LOLZ!!!
got one word for you nvidia……..
LOSERS!!!!
Looks like they cant fix this after all …If not then prove me wrong!!?
ATI FTW!!! ima get a sticker to put on my hotrod of a dude pissing on the word Nvidia or the logo lolz
“A gamer”, you are a fucking moron. Learn to spell, punctuate, and format sentences before mouthing off some meaningless rant that only serves to demonstrate your extreme ignorance. You are clearly a waste of life and I would certainly laugh if informed of your death.
I continuously have that problem with my own built system, Intel Proc. 8G Ram, Dual 8800GTX graphics cards and Vista64 Prof. and spent already numerous hours to correct it. New drivers, updates etc. nothing !!!
Now this:
Recently bought a HP TX2000 tablet system with Vista64, AMD, 4G Ram and ATI HD3200 graphics card and guess what, exactly the same problem.
It very much appears to be a Vista64 issue.
I forgot to mention that the error I am dealing with is along the lines of “display driver stopped in the expected time” ……
Just acquired this curse. I was watching a divx movie with vlc player. Removing a 1GB stick from my total of 2GB seemed to temporarily fix the problem. Installing drivers didn’t seem to fix anything.
My basic specs:
hp pavilion dv9000t (model 9200, I think)
2 GB RAM (in 2 sticks)
nVidia GeForce Go 7600
2.something GHz Core 2 Duo CPU
Had the comp for 1.5 years with no problems, no I get it constantly.
TO Guy^^ in response to ‘A gamer’
You are clearly an angry person. people are who they are and can choose to abbreviate and write in slang if they want to. this is a serious problem that is happening to many people. an answer would be more helpful than proving once again to me that there are truly wretched people.
u caim ‘a gamer’ is displaying ‘extreme ignorance’ yet you are displaying extreme intolerance.
ps. there are no jobs in the grammar police, sorry, try again next year.
I commented on another post but will here too. nvidia has admitted they sold defective chips and some companies are replacing them.

So far all solutions have been very short. Just when you think the problem is solved, it comes back.
Hi all, i’ve just started getting this exact issue, only it mainly appears when playing games, especially Track Mania United. After loads of reading and testing i’m not convinced its ram, (i tried each stick at once), however i’ve found that plugging the psu power lead into its own dependant socket (i.e. like only the psu plug in one wall socket) has helped loads, can’t explain why but made TM playable compared to getting crashes every 5/10 secs. As for dual monitors i do have a 2nd plugged in but rarely use it.
Also, try uninstalling all nvidia drivers (graphics and chipsets), then cleaning the driver store with driver cleaner pro (google it and keep looking there’s a free one avaliable online somewhere(v1.5)) and reinstalling chipset and graphics.
I had a problem w/ 8600m GS Nvidia driver, Amilo xa2528.
It keep crashing all the time, then I tried to uninstall all the Nvidia Display driver & it works, but you cant play game & even a 3D screensaver won’t work. But like myself is rarely play PC games & never
on my present nootbook. But I am tempted to install the driver again from the latest Nvidia site driver & it happens again & tried different things, like installing lower version of drivers but it wont work.
Is there any open source display driver that work on my Amilo?
& now I am opting to uninstall even if I will not enjoy better graphics of the display as long as I can use it for e-mail, music & stuff.
Pls help me with this problem!
Hi, now I’m a member of the club!
I bought a DFI lanparty mb with a BFG Geforce GTX295 (Vista 64).
I cannot run any game, they crash with the same infamous error (even with latest drivers 181.22).
What to do??? I cannot play with my new computer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
im just another adding to the list.
this error is really getting on my last nerves!
im about to pull my hair out
i dont even play game yet i have this problem
i have done everything i could to try and fix this and its been nothing but failure!!!!
i hate vista with a passion
the people in charge really need to get there shit together!
rip off!refund or rplacement of same specs pc but with mac os!i wish..
Oh no! I have this problem too, I googled for solution and found what? NOTHING! Two year old thing, and still nothing. So I am in the club with my new desktop computer:
Intel C2D E8400
MD Gigabyte Intel P45
Corsair 4GB DDR2
Gigabyte nVidia 8800GT <– what a Crap!
Vista 32b <– or this?
I thought its overheating problem, when playing game The temperature was 85C so I installed new heatsing and 120mm fan, now the temperature is 60, it’s 25C down and still the same. I hate this problem. It last too long.
Problem solved by gettin rid of Nvidia and goin ATI! =D
Oh dear
that’s not good!
You guessed it the same little problem.
Self build working fine.
Bought a G25 another GTX 260 for SLi and an 860w power pack since then Blue screen.Same nvidia driver responsible NVL DDMK
Well pissed, I think the only response that holds water and no one has tried it or commented on it is the one about the RAM limit.
This whole concept for us guys is really annoying as there is no one out there to HELP
Some times I get so angry I just want to punch the screen or put it out in the road for a truck!

I mean all yesterday I left the PC on, played all night Burnout Paradise, great came home this am switched the bitch on clicked the EA download Manager icon screen split up into a thousand bits like the old Compaq Pressario days trying to max out to 32bit 1024×768.
its not fair? What do we do Where do We go?
Been having this problem as well, ever since I upgraded my card last year to an 8800GT. I have noticed it happening during my games but its really rare. Its like a quick 4 second black out.
Anyways it happens all the time after a couple of hours my screen saver kicks in at night when I go to bed. I wake up to the screen being black and have to run task manager or use the windows key to get back to the desktop.
This is complete bullcrap… MS needs to get their shit together… 2 god damn years, I just got the problem for the first time today and I’m already about to rip my hair out, I thought it may have been a virus but seeing how so many others have had this problem I kind of ruled that out..
PLEASE HELP
Same thing here, but I have a X1650 XL ATI card, this sucks!
Same problem…
I have 512 MB 9800GT nvidia vid card and 32-bit genuine vista home basic.
I wonder if they are even dealing with this… Hopefully nvidias sales have decreased..
If anyone ever finds a solution to the problem (without the need of buying another windows/vid card) then please be sure to post here too.
I myself am having this issue, was wondering how you can check which version you are running?
GRRRR…. 2 fucking years and STILL this happens? Come on NVidia. This is ridiculous. I do have 4 gigs of ram, but I really don’t want to remove a stick of ram just to play a game, when I need all 4 for other things
This is driving me insane, I also REALLY hope that Windows 7 is more intelligent.
This is rediculous, I agree. Nothing to do but fix the problem ourselves I guess. They’re not going to do it for us.
Any Ideas?
This is madness. I don’t understand why there hasn’t been a fix.

after reading through this thread, im dunno what to make of this.
started getting this error to during crysis.
just upgraded everything in the last year, bought a copy of vista home, new 9800gtx+ and recently installed crysis only to get this damn error.
now when i upgraded my machine, i also done my mates, and we run the same system other than he has an AMD 64bit with vista 32bit, ive got a 2.4 pentium duo running vista, also our monitors are different, his being an acer 19″, mine asus 22″ wide.
last night i couldnt get more than 10mins out of crysis because of this error, he played it all night no problems, only difference in settings was i was 1680×1050 res, while he was 1280×1024.
we run exactly the same graphics card at the same settings, obviously other than screen res. the towers are side by side and they run at the same temps.
now after reading through best part of the posts i was directed to from google, every possible system configuration has been having this problem and blaming it on something else, be it heat, be it ram, and the only common factor is “Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has succesfully recovered” on a vista operating machine running nVidia drivers, beats me how some have reported it on an ATI system!
please, there has to be a fix out there some where surely ?
as an update ………….
i found a post on the net that recommened turning some of the nVidia texture settings down in the control panel, so done that and turned the ingame texture settings to medium and never had a problem since.
id have to say because of the frequncy of the problem before hand, and the fact it hasnt happended since, id have to say there was issues with ingame settings, maybe heat or something on full settings.
perhaps even just pushing your system just that touch to far, wether you have the specs to handle it or not can cause this error ingame and looks like where back to the old vista – nvdia immature driver compatbility thing.
all i can suggest to anyone else coming across this problem is to start nerfing texture settings, 1st in the nvidia control panel, then ingame and go from there. but theres definately something about the pentium -> nVidia -> vista mix that causes high graphic settings to flip games out.
I using Notebook Acer Aspire5920. Geforce 8600M GS 256MB. Windows Home Premium Service Pack 2.
I have the same issue after i install the latest window Vista update.
And I have finaly solve this issue by;
1) Download the latest Directx9.0c(Aug2009) and Install.
2) Download the latest driver from NVIDIA (186.81_notebook_win7_winvista_32bit_international_whql) and install.
Thanks…
Wow…it’s as if I thought I was the only one with some rare disease and then stumble across a support-group of others with the same condition!!!
I’ve read some other possible fixes…but none helped me. I’ve been gaming without incident for almost 2 years now on this rig but starting a few days ago…the dreaded nvlddmkm issue has me crippled.
here’s on link I found…but didnt work for me:
http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/29415832/display-driver-nvlddmkm-s.aspx
I do hope someone finds a fix soon!!
This has to be the most frustrating problem I’ve ever come across and this is from a person who has been working with computers for decades. I have 5 machines in this house running Vista and only one (of course it has to be mine) is having this problem.
There appears to be no reliable resolution to this. I have tried everything short of reinstalling Vista and I’m concerned even that might not fix the problem. I did hear that there was a problem with a recent MS Patch to Vista which might be causing the problem. If I track it down I’ll post back here.
Good luck to everyone feeling this pain!
Thats it…ive read enough “Solutions” EVERYONE…BACK TO XP…its not worth it…im sorry, ive tried supporting vista..and ive done my best to make this all work out, but this was just about it…ive read so many forums and fix sites and fraged my system and rebuild it from scratch…as theyve said if you let the system even attempt anything slightly bothersome it freaks, the forums ive looked at go all the way back to 2007, why in all nVidia’s sanity are we still bothered with this horrible nvlddmkm problem..
thats my very unthought out rant…no help at all…forgive me
3 years and counting and still happening and brand new pcs
just got a brand new pc with nvidia 295 1.8GB amd athlon phenom 8GB ram running Vista 64 (purchased October 14, 2009) and getting this damn black screen for 5-10 seconds followed by an error message (display driver blah blah…)
I’ve seen posts complaining about this same exact issue dating back to january 2007.
It’s been nearly three years folks….how can they still be selling computers that knowingly do this?!?
This is b…sh.. !
I will never buy a computer with nvidia card again…
Do you think is there any way we could put some pressure on nvidia and/or microsoft (depending whose fault it is) to fix the damn problem?? Probably not…?
For me heat equaled the problem. Do whatever you can to reduce the heat and you should be much better off. I went as far to remove the side of my case, I now keep it off all the time, added a fan to blow right on both of my graphics cards and got it out from under the desk the issue is now fixed.
You might even have to lower the refresh rate from 75hz to 60hz.
Each time I did something to help reduce the heat on the card the problem happened less and less until it was gone.
I had the problem in XP x86 and Win 7 64bit. problem no more. Should you have to go that far NO!, but at least its working!
Have the same problem as others. I get sound loops and freezes when I play TF2. My pc once restarted during TF2 due to this problem. When I click ‘show hidden devices’ in device manager I see NVR0FLASHDev with an exclamation point beside it.
I don’t know what to do. I cannot find any fix for this anywhere. I’ve tried everything I could think of.
If anyone knows a fix, please let me know! Email me directly at dizz2k1@gmail.com
Thanks in advance.

I just got in a few days ago.
I read this thread and came to the conclusion that it was related to a Vista-Nvidea communication problem, so I decided to get Windows 7. After install, it took ten minutes before the error cropped up again. So much for a new OS fixing the problem…
Another note, I just put in a less powerful graphics card I had sitting around:
removed the Nvideo GT 8800
put in:
Geforce 9940 GT
Graphics don’t parse as well, but Age of Conan runs without error….
