iPhone 2.0 Update – Bugs Abound – Slow, Freeze, Crash
July 28th, 2008 | Posted by in iPhone Tips & Tricks
So as excited as we all were for the 2.0 update with the release of the apps store, the iPhone 2.0 update leaves a lot to be desired. Since installing the 2.0 update, my phone constantly lags and freezes. My contacts screen now takes about 15-30 seconds before it becomes functional. My list of text messages has become so slow to load that its almost better to just turn my computer on and send an email, and the PUSH email either doesn’t work with Gmail, or is just a sham. Not once has an email been “PUSHED” to my phone yet.
When will the 2.1 update or 2.0.1 update be released to fix all of the new bugs and glitches?
Are people having this same problem on the iPhone 3G version? I still have the first generation iPhone, so maybe I just need to upgrade.

People! I just fixed the slowness of my iPhone after the 2.0 update.
After several resets on iTunes, nothing seams to work, so I did a factory reset on the phone itself instead of iTunes and on iTunes I erased the backup file. It takes a while but its working great now. Before this, it was just a useless phone with internet that I could not even see my contact list without waiting 8 seconds to load. try it out. It worked for me.
yep, same problems, glad it isn’t just me. it’s very very slow and the keyboard lag is ridiculous.
Mine and my husbands iPhones are slow too since we installed 2.0. We have a friend who hasn’t even installed 2.0 on his iPhone yet and it lags and freezes on him, so it might be the server trying to handle the volume. After installing the 2.0 software, my husbands lap top was some how affected and he couldn’t get wifi access on it. He had to restore his laptop to an earlier date before the 2.0 software install.
Hey PaYo -
Glad you found a solution, but I’m not sure that there are too many people out there who are willing to reset their entire phone and their backup file.
That’d mean having to spend a lot of time reorganizing and adding contacts, pictures, music, videos, etc.
I’m hoping that Apple releases an update soon!!!
The keyboard is now so slow and laggy that texting is very painful. So far iphone 2.0 is not so good.
Hey PaYo your little trick worked on my pwaged iPhone was crashing constantly and using mobile me to sync mail and contacts meant using the phone was super slow texting is fast again just a few mods to my icon placment and thanks to mobile me my calendar and contacts came back very fast with Wifi to sync faster
anyone having this issue should consider PaYo’s fix
(delete all your backup’s from iTunes Preferences) and do a full restore and then set your phone up as new
think about it this way your backed up iPhone settings were from a old one then upgraded software with our software settings probably causing the issue
once setup make a fresh new backup
as long as your contacts are in Outlook/Mail what ever the program you use the re-setup should only take 10min max
PaYo… How do you get all your data backif you erase the back up file?
Hi Jennie what data are you particularily looking to get back?
Since the iPhone gets 90% of it’s data from your settings for it in iTunes I’m thinking you only mean your photos taken by your iPhone. If that is the case get your photos off by syncing with a photo program that iTunes can see in the photo tab when you phone is connected to save those your address book should already be synced with mail outlook etc from your first sync
I followed PaYo’s istruction the only pain I had was reorganizing all my downloads apps/games the way I like them which tool about 10 minutes after the fresh restore once all is back up make a fresh backup and that new backup should be good I’m case you ever need to do it again my phone has been tunnig 200% better after PaYo’s comment
I believe the issue is when you first update to 2.0 you nackp is based off the substantially different 1.14 software and Ja’s to upgrade the back up with existig installed and configured software and services u believe this is where the issue is coming from so iTunes updates should be able to fix this buggy garbage too since it’s what keeps the incremental backup of your iPhone
can you guys tell me please why mi iphone is saving text messages or mails like a photo in the photos library? please help me thanks!!!
