Enable Multiple Remote Desktop Connections in Window Server 2008

Many times, you’ll find it necessary to have multiple connections to a Remote Desktop server, and by default, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2003, Window Vista, Windows XP, etc. limit the number of Remote Desktop Connections to 1 user.

On Windows Server 2008, the Restrict Terminal Services users to a single remote session Group Policy setting determines whether you can connect to your existing physical console session. When this option is enabled, when logging on by default, you will be restricted to a single remote session.

This setting is available in the Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Terminal Services\Terminal Server\Connections node of the Local Group Policy Editor. You can also configure this setting in Terminal Services Configuration. The Restrict each user to a single session setting appears in Edit settings in the General section.

If you would like to have multiple simultaneous sessions for the same user, please uncheck this setting or set this group policy as Disabled.

Let me just start out by saying that I do not wear glasses, but I am absolutely intrigued by people who do. iTunes 8 Will Not Load or Install on Windows Vista – You must restart your system for the configuration changes made to iTunes to take effect

Recently, I updated my office computer to iTunes 8, and since the update, iTunes just will not load for me. Once I updated iTunes and restarted my system, I get the following messages.

First Message

Please wait while Windows configures iTunes.

Second (most frustrating) Message

You must restart your system for the configuration changes made to iTunes to take effect. Click Yes to restart now or No if you plan to manually restart later.

Basically, my iTunes installation is in a never-ending loop of configuring itself and then asking for my computer to be restarted. Is there any way to get around this problem? I’ve tried uninstalling iTunes and deleting all of the files associated with it, but once I downloaded and installed iTunes again, I encountered the same problem. Endless loop.

Windows Vista is Extremely Slow to Recover from Sleep/Hibernation Mode

I recently installed Windows Vista Ultimate on my home PC, which previously had Windows Vista Home Premium installed. Upon installing Windows Vista Ultimate, I have had a problem of the PC taking a terribly long time to wake up from sleep mode. It literally takes 5-7 minutes. When I’m done using the computer, I’ll press the “SLEEP” button on my keyboard, which will put the computer right to sleep/power saving mode. Upon returning to the computer, I can press a mouse button or any button on the keyboard to wake the computer up. When it wakes up, I am almost immediately presented with the logon/password screen, and after entering my password, the desktop will display, but is unusable for about 5-7 minutes. When I was running Windows Vista Home Premium, the desktop would be immediately useable with no lag time at all.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any solutions or workarounds? Probably should just keep using my Mac, right?

WordPress 2.7 Beta 3 Released – Still No Official WordPress 2.7 Release Date

As we all anxiously await the release of the WordPress 2.7 final release, or at least word of the release date for WordPress 2.7, the folks over at WordPress have taken this Saturday to release a new beta version of WordPress… WordPress 2.7 Beta 3. Here is the  Text about the release that is found on the WordPress development site:

WordPress 2.7 Beta 3 has been released for your testing pleasure. Here are some of the changes since Beta 2 (over 160 changes in total):

  • Numerous style improvements and refinements.
  • All admin notices now go under the page title.
  • PHP Notice fixes.
  • Dashboard widget options now properly save.
  • Menu fixes.
  • New design for Quick Edit.
  • Canonical feed URL fixes.
  • Walker fixes.
  • An update for Hello Dolly.
  • Plugin installer updates.
  • Numerous font updates.
  • Updated login logo.
  • Switch position of “Save Draft” and “Preview” buttons in publish module.
  • File upload support for MS Office 2007+ file formats.
  • Media upload buttons won’t show if the user doesn’t have the upload capability.
  • Canonical redirects only do yes-www or no-www redirection for domains.

WordPress 2.7 Release Postponed? WordPress 2.7 Still in Beta Form

A couple weeks ago, it was announced that the WordPress developers were looking for icon designers who’d be able to help create icons for the November 10th release date of WordPress 2.7. It’s now mid-day on November 11th, and WordPress 2.7 has yet to be released.

Any guesses as to the actual release date of WordPress 2.7? Will they let it out this week, or is it going to be postponed for another couple weeks to make it absolutely perfect? I say release it now… there’s always room for 2.7.1 and 2.7.2, right?
